World’s Largest Solar Powerd Ship

The 31m long and 15m wide craft is able to capture nearly 103.4 kW of solar energy to power its engine which normally needs 20kW, to reach an average speed of 8 knots (15kph or 9mph). Although it is possible it can “swim” twice faster.

FB Top Comments | Yeah...but I'd like to see what happens to that thing in a storm at sea...
Panels broken and ripped off by strong winds? | needs to get cover, otherwise it will fly away or...broken as you said! | Something tells me they didn't use elmer's paper glue for the panels. lol |
And how many resources did it use and waste generated to build it...? | Sails...good for hundreds of years |  I saw this ship at port in St. John's NFLD last year, got to step on board and take a peak. Very cool!  | If it produces 103 kW and has only a 20 kW engine it's rather in efficient why not put three 20 kW engines or a 60 kW engine in and get the thing moving thirty knots Is moving and worth while that would still leave more than enough kW energy for on board lights navigation ect | Looks like a starship |  This only proves that the sun did shine during the whole trip. Bring this technoligy to the level that shipyards can't resist it, please | And how long are those panels good for? |
Traveling around the world... With solar panel !!! Excellent !!!! | You can land with a jet fighter on that thing... | Very nice, but why not sail? Cheaper to build, and more likely faster. |  Should go faster nd b a tour ship.we cant employ that for real commerce. | Where do the fishin rods go |  I'd take a yacht which can do so thing like 15 -20 knots and has a bit of room on it
