Japanese farmers create pentagon-shaped oranges

FB Top Comments
Why spend too much time changing the shape of oranges when its main purpose is to be eaten? | actually, you're all wrong. read about this the other day, it's part of their end of studies tradition, supposed to give them good luck during exam seasons. lol | Because then they can be packed more efficiently. | square makes more since because they are easier to ship in a box that way. This shape is just puzzling. I'm sure they have their reasons.
They also make square watermelons, it's due to space and shipping issues.
too bad they are loaded with radiation
Its called creative, try something new, like art, if humans did not try we stuck in stone age
What for??? Useless, mindless... Like all Japanese stuff, like Taiji yearly dolphin's slaugher...
Shouldn't they be working on the smog problem first? You can not enjoy a pentagon orange if you can not see it or breath. Just my 2¢
Might be to save space while transporting. There will be gaps if they are cubes. Just i thought.
I am Mathematician and I found this offensive! | You might try Prozac to help you with your emotions.
and their watermelons are square. this way they can stack them and save space hahaha
Why not hexagonal? Pentagons don't tile as efficiently.
yeah they make square shaped watermelon too... why cause they can fit more in the boxes if they fit neatly, and they can sell them for more cause they are a novelty
So we cannot tell the next generation that all oranges are round. When u ask "what's the shape of orange?", they will tell u "it depends". lol
Japanese is on top of the world for invention
And now babies are being born with penta-eyes
They're foreshadowing an impending terrorist attack on the Pentagon
I have done this with some vegetables for fun.. You just need a mold and they will grow that shape.
that's why aliens don't want to visit us
Maybe if they quit deforming oranges, they might be able to stop the murders in Taiji...dumbasses.
Because this couldn't be done with a knife...
They didn't 'create'. They just 'shaped' . Still cool
Smh ...always trying to go against natures way of doing things ..
You people making fun of us asains growing natural organic fruit, but your country is poisoning you with GMO CHEMICALS. . Smh maybe that's why GMO are doing that because you people deserved it animals.
Having fruit grow inside molds until they take the mold's shape isn't that unbelievable.
i would like to see them create the seed create the tree, thus creating the orange, hence using the word "create" is only suitable to God. Mankind can only invent, not create.
Pentagon Orange twice the cost of regular shaped oranges. Just like Square watermelons.
The reason they do it that way is becoz they can utilize each and every inch while tranporting them
What's the big deal? Is the pentagonized shaped orange gonna solve famine?
Humans have done way stupider things thin this. I think they are cool. An orange that wont roll away on you ever.
I've seen Chinese people doing this shaping thing to the heads of cats in glass jars. They feed the cats with eye droppers. Asians..
They also grow square watermelons to store in the fridge easier... Who cares
they have face shaped pumpkins where the pumpkin its paces in a metal face mold while small and it grows into the mold cavity.
Because normal oranges were too main stream
Like if you're against plant abuse
Waiting for eifel tower-shaped orange....
Thats got to be like trying to peel a rubik's cube.
Lets try it with fetuses next! We will have the pentagon headed people.
This is not that unusual for them. They also make square watermelons. The reason is they do not have all the space we have in the US, so the grow them in a square box so that when finished they can be stored on shelves without rolling off.
Sooner or later they are going to start making devil fruits
Eateries was the only thing remained to be imitated and modified by Japanese and chinese..!
I like how positively thrilled the farmers look
If I was a farmer, I'd do things like this too. Makes the job more amusing
This is INNOVATION! Also if you haven't noticed, Japanese value the palatability of dishes, so these pentagon-shaped oranges would add to that. And, you can't call them stupid, a waste of time or sth like that because I'm sure you'd not appreciate people calling something you put effort/time stupid!
native Americans used this on kid's heads
That's not hard to do and I used to make square hard boiled eggs using the same principle, enclose the early orange in an enclosure of any shape and it will grow to fill that shape
